How to resolve Sage 50 Error: “The action can’t be completed because the file is open in another program” ?

    1. Close Sage 50 on all workstations.
    2. At the server, press Windows+R.
    3. In the Run box, enter services.msc and click OK.
    4. Now, right click on the Pervasive PSQL Workgroup Engine and select Stop.
    5. Once the service has been stopped, right click to select Start again.
    6. Repeat the process on all workstation. as well as on the server
    7. Check if you can rename the file now.

    Solution 2:

    1. Close Sage 50 on all workstations as well as on the server.
    2. At the server, select Start and go to the Control Panel.
    3. Select Administrative Tools and then select Computer Management.
    4. Select Shared Folders and then click on Open Files.
    5. Now, in the list, find Sage 50 program and data path files.
    6. Right click on each of the files and select Close Open Files.
    7. Check if you can rename the file now.

    Solution 3:

    1. Press Windows Key + E. This will launchFile Explorer.
    2. From the options, clickon View
    3. Then click Options and select Change folder and search options.
    4. Now, in theFolder Options, under Advanced settings, find the ‘Launch folder windows in a separate process’ option and disable it.
    5. ClickApply and then click OK to apply the changes.

    You can now close File Explorer via Task Manager or reboot the machine to fix the error message.
