    Resolution

    Option I: Automatic Installation

    1. In most cases, when an update is available for installation, a prompt to do so will appear when Sage 50 Accounting—U.S. Edition is closed
    2. Select Yes on the installation prompt
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update
    4. If the installation prompt does not appear, see Option II

Option II: Manually Install Service Releases and Tax Updates

    1. Close Sage
    2. Open Computer
    3. Browse to Updates folder located in your data path,“How to find data path and program path” in the Related resources section
    4. Right-click latest Service Release or Tax Update, and then select Run as administrator

Note: If the update file is not present, “How to manually download updates” in the Related resources section.

    1. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update
    2. When the update completes, open Sage
    3. Select Help, and then select About Sage 50 Accounting to verify the update installed

    Option III: Tax Forms Updates

    1. Follow the link in Additional Information for the forms update
    2. Select Download
    3. Save Peach.exe
    4. If Sage is on a different PC, copy Peach.exe to a CD or USB and take it to the Sage computer
    5. Double-click Peach.exe to start the installation
    6. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the update
    7. When the installation completes, your tax forms will be up-to-date and ready to use

    Note:

    • Service releases and tax updates downloaded through Services, Check for Updates are saved to the Updates folder in your data path.
    • In a network setup, service release updates must be installed on the server first.
    • Tax updates must be installed at each computer using Sage, but the order does not matter.
    • The most recent service release must be installed before installing the most recent tax update.
    • If running Windows Vista, 7, or 8, you may need to disable User Account Control to successfully install the update. “How to disable User Account Control (UAC)” in the Related Resources section.
    • If none of the above steps correct the issue then use Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel to remove Sage 50, download a new copy of the installation files and use those to re-install Sage 50 (new installation files include the latest updates)
