    Section I: New Computer

    1. Make a backup of each company;

    Note: If the number of companies available makes backing up each individually time prohibitive,

    1. Install Sage 50 on the new computer;
    2. Move the backups into a shared folder or onto removable media (USB drive, CD, flash drive) so they can be accessed at the new computer
    3. On the new computer, open Sage 50
    4. Restore each backup, and choose option to Create a new company using the restored data;

    Note: If you have any custom forms, select the option to restore custom forms along with data.

    1. If using Sage 50 on a network and changing servers:
      1. Share the data folder from the new server;
      2. At each workstation, disconnect the original Sage 50 data network drive
      3. At each workstation, map a network drive to the new Sage 50 data location using the same drive letter as the original network drive;
    2. Verify that Sage 50 can be successfully opened, and the data accessed, at all computers

    Section II: Moving from server to workstation

    1. Close all instances of the software running
    2. On the workstation you wish to make the new host, create a new local data path.
    3. To move companies to the new datapath follow

    Section III: Upgrading Windows

    1. Before installing the new version of Windows, open Sage 50
    2. Make a backup of each company;
    3. Move the backup files onto removable media (USB drive, external hard drive, CD/DVD)
    4. If Sage 50 was installed from a download, copy the installation folder onto the removable media

    Note: The default location for the installation files is C:\Sage\Sage50_201[version].  Copy this entire folder.

    1. After installing the Windows upgrade, reinstall Sage 50;
    2. Open Sage 50
    3. Restore each backup, choosing the option to Create a new company using the restored data;

    Note: If you have any custom forms, select the option to restore custom forms along with data.
